Mission & Vision

To be a force for good by indiscriminately arming people with the skills and knowledge to defend themselves, members of their communities, and their loved ones against the attacks from the number one cause of death in America: heart disease. Using the knowledge and expertise I gained from my time as a Hospital Corpsman (Medic) in the Navy, I will apply my unique skill set and perspective to The American Heart Association's already exceptional bank of scientifically proven life-saving methodologies.

My dream is to never have a family member, friend, teacher, coworker, or even passerby needlessly die from cardiac arrest by virtue of those around them not knowing the simple skill of effective CPR. Through bringing about greater awareness to the realities of heart disease and cardiac arrest while elevating the preparedness of all members in every community from youth centers to retirement homes, we can all make the world a safer and more competent global community for all.

Professional Experience

May 2018 - Nov 2018

U.S. Navy Bootcamp & Hospital Corpsman (Medic) Training

Leaving my home, going through two arduous months of Bootcamp and four intense months of accelerated medical training was the most physically and mentally challenging period of my life at that time. It was humbling yet inspiring, opening my eyes to how short I had been selling myself and planting seeds of passion.

NOV 2018 - OCT 2019

Walter Reed Military Hospital - D.C.

MEDEVAC Team - Crew Member

After going through Navy Bootcamp & an accelerated medical training program, I was sent to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington D.C. There, I began as a member of the MEDEVAC crew for a little over one year. We went on medical transportation missions, receiving patients flown in from overseas on C-130s to local Air Force bases. We closely monitored their conditions in transit to Walter Reed while also caring for their families.

OCT 2019 - FEB 2021

Walter Reed Military Hospital - D.C.

Emergency Department - EMT / ER Tech

Working in the Emergency Department, I found tremendous fulfillment in caring for COVID-19 patients, self-studying and earning my EMT, and working alongside and learning from exceptionally talented Nurses, PAs, Doctors, and Surgeons. Here, my passion for medicine was born. I learned everything under the sun: suturing, US-guided IVs, assisting in chest tube placements, responding to code blues, and so much more.

FEB 2021 - MAR 2023

USS New Orleans - Sasebo, Japan

Medical Department - EMT / Medic

The Medical Department on a Navy ship makes up less than 1% of the crew and is the only medical line of defense out at sea in the middle of the ocean. Because of this, I was frequently the first person on the scene of a "man down", had to see patients and make decisions independently without a doctor's direction, acted as a medical safety watch during ship operations, and ensured drinking water and food safety through inspections.

APR 2023 - Present

UW Health - Madison, WI

Urgent Care - EMT / Medical Assistant

Currently, I work at various Urgent Care facilities throughout the Madison area. My responsibilities consist of performing initial patient intakes, ordering indicated lab tests and x-ray imaging, performing minor procedures, assisting providers with intermediate and advanced procedures that are now outside my scope of practice, and responding to in-facility medical emergencies as part of the response team.
